I am the editor of an amazing resource Web site for families, www.mothersource.org.
I had the honor of editing a tender, heart-wrenching story written by a mother about her daughter’s short life and the healing and inspiration she brought to their family and community. Please give it a read and be sure to have a tissue handy!
Our electricity is out due to a winter storm so I am working today in the warmth of a coffee shop while the little monkey plays with his best buddy Choo-choo. As I was editing this story, I sobbed quietly. I am sure the man sitting next to me reading his paper worried I might be having a break down.
Our daily moments as mothers can be stressful, draining and even mind-numbing. It can be so easy to lose perspective. And difficult to really see the amazing, beautiful little human being right in front of you when they are a snotty, writhing ball of fuss. The late nights. The long nights. The mornings when you just want a second of quiet.
But.
Reminders like this tender story hit me like a brick wall. Wake up! Remember this life is precious, every single moment. So today, I promise to be more present. I promise to be more grateful. I promise to remember little Nevy and the gift she brought to the world.
Remember to read the story. You won’t be sorry!

Thanks for posting this Savannah! I know all too well how fragile life is and appreciate reminders. Stories like this make me hug my little ones just a little bit tighter and hold them all the more often.
